Corrie star 'mourning death of Jacob' as he teases off-screen killing after tense exit

Coronation Street star Jack James Ryan is already “mourning the death” of his character Jacob Hay after his exit from the cobbles tonight.

Though Jacob escaped from a drug deal gone wrong with his life, that doesn’t mean he’s safe in the future.

Plenty of Corrie icons have been killed off off-screen, including veterans like Norris Cole and even youngsters like Katy Armstrong – so Jacob’s future death isn’t out of the question.

Speaking to Daily Star ahead of his dramatic exit from the cobbles, Jack said he had an “emotional” time filming his last scenes, as saying goodbye to his character proved to be tough.

Jacob Hay left the cobbles for good tonight after a drug deal gone wrong

He explained: “It was hard, because we obviously don’t always film everything in order. So I actually filmed my final scenes two weeks before I was leaving.

“I think my last scene is this random scene with Ciaran [Griffiths, who plays Damon] on the street outside Underworld, with him telling me to leave the factory.

“It was weird, but good because I had that two-week period to mourn the death of Jacob Hay. Like, mourn me leaving the show – so that was really good.”

Actor Jack James Ryan said he is ‘mourning the death’ of his character – metaphorically, of course

Speaking of filming his final ever scene, Jack explained: “Elle [Mulvaney], Harriet [Bibby] and James [Craven] had all come in on their day off to watch me do my final scene.

“They gave me a massive hug at the end and Iain [MacLeod, producer] came out with a bottle of champagne and did a really nice speech. But it was super emotional!”

The send-off didn’t end there, as Jack also revealed his plans for a ‘watch party’ over at Amy Barlow star Elle’s house to watch Jacob leave the cobbles.

He gushed: “I have to mention James Craven, Harriet Bibby and Elle Mulvaney who have been my absolute rocks. They’re just the dream team, the best friends I could ever have asked for.

“But in fairness, I won’t really miss them that much considering since I left we’ve seen each other every week!

“In fact we’re all going to Elle’s tonight for a watch party for my final episode. She’s making food and everything so I’m really excited for that.”
