He died in a single-car crash on the A55 near Broughton in Wales on September 25. The Daily Post reported that Kennedy was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

A police spokesman confirmed at the time: “Shortly before 6.30am North Wales Police received a number of 999 calls reporting a vehicle – a white coloured BMW 118 – was in a ditch just off the A55 prior to junction 36 of the westbound carriageway. The emergency services attended, but sadly, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.”

The band confirmed the passing of Jon Kennedy on their socials as frontman Dani Filth said: “He was a great bassist and singer who filled in for Cradle at a time of such magical import, mayhem and mischief. I distinctly remember having a wickedly wonderful week staying just outside Wrexham in Wales at Jon’s mum’s house in 1995.”

He said the pair were “always pulling pranks and winding each other up”. Adding: “He will be missed! Godspeed old friend.”

Dani also spoke of Jon’s time in the group, adding that he was the band’s third bassist and replaced Robin Eaglestone during The Principle of Evil Made Flash Tour. He explained it was Jon who performed on Dusk and Her Embrace – The Original Sin.

The frontman added: “He was also one of the founders and singer of Hecate Enthroned. Our thoughts are with his family and friends. Rest in power mate.”

Hecate Enthroned also paid tribute to the singer as they praised his passion for music. They said: “Working with Jon on music was fun, inspiring and challenging because anyone with that drive and passion was a force and this continued after Hecate with all his musical endeavours right up to the end with the Power House Imperial Genocide.”

They said he also had passion with the love for his family and close friends, adding that he was a loving father and son. The group asked people to “raise the horns” for Jon.
