Strictly Come Dancing’s Craig Revel Horwood has opened up about his personal life, revealing that he would still be married to a woman and have children by now if his ex-wife had not left him.
In an interview with Kaye Adams on her How to Be 60 podcast, Craig, who is currently engaged to trainee paramedic Jonathan Myring, spoke about his past relationships.
In the 1990s, he fell in love with his friend and flatmate, Jane Horwood.

They married and were keen to start their own family, but after Jane had an affair with a mutual friend, Craig moved out.
“If that relationship had worked out, I could have seen a life where I would have been married to a woman and had kids, without a shadow of a doubt,” Craig said.
“It’s who you meet along the way and what changes it, it’s quite extraordinary.”
Craig, now 58, wishes he had had children with Jane.
“The reason I got married the first time was for that specific reason, but that didn’t work out because she fell in love with someone else, and so that’s why that ended,” he explained.
After the marriage ended, Craig had relationships with men and met his fiancé, Jonathan, 36, on a dating app in 2018.
The couple got engaged in 2020 and plan to marry at their home on Craig’s 60th birthday.
The former dancer, currently playing Miss Hannigan in a nationwide tour of Annie, also told how he had intended to retire ten years ago.
He said: “I’d set up a plan to retire when I was exactly 50. I was doing Miss Saigon at the time in the West End and I thought, ‘I don’t want to be doing this for the rest of my life.’
The star later landed a job as a judge on Strictly Come Dancing in 2004, which changed his plans.
“I remained luckily within the dance world and wonderfully the last 20 years as a judge, which is nice because I get to sit down and just hold paddles,” Craig said.
He also talked about his career as a dancer, saying that he had planned to retire when he was 50.
“Dancing is a really difficult profession and a hard life, and it becomes quite tiring by the time you’re 30,” he said.
