Doja Cat certainly knows how to make an impression – and landed one of the most awkward Met Gala interviews ever while repeatedly meowing at Emma Chamberlain.
Emma, recruited by Vogue to conduct official red carpet interviews at the event, was left struggling to get any straight answers from the rapper.
In a bizarre outfit choice, Doja opted to dress as a feline for the 2023 event. Modelling a glitzy silver gown covered in sparkles that rose into a hood complete with cat ears, she left fans stunned with her facial prosthetics.

Doja added a fake nose to her outfit to give the impression of a human-animal mesh, and added a jewelled chain over her forehead to pose up a storm.
Finishing things off were fake nails shaped into purr-fect claws.
She – along with House of Gucci star Jared Leto – attended the event dressed as Karl Lagerfeld’s beloved cat Choupette, who skipped the red carpet herself.
Karl’s famous Birman feline has posed for numerous fashion shoots over the years, appearing alongside Kendall Jenner and Naomi Campbell for Vogue photoshoots.
But in true cat fashion, Doja refused to answer interview questions as her human self.
Emma Chamberlain asked her: “Wait, so who made [the outfit]?” but Doja would only reply: “Meow.”
Pressing on regardless, Emma then asked: “Wow, okay, so something a little different! So what was your inspiration for tonight? Be honest with me. And go into detail!”
After a sigh, Doja said: “Meow, meow. Meow.”
“So what are you excited to see in there today?” Emma asked, and – surprise, surprise – got nothing but cat noises.
Ending the clip with: “So is this your first Met?”, it seemed like it would have been better for Emma to wrap things up early.

Doja would say to red carpet host LaLa Anthony: “I feel very calm and relaxed. I do hope to have some good conversation, have some fun and meet some cool people.”
But fans were more caught up in the awkward moment with Emma, and took to Twitter to share their thoughts.
One fan tweeted: “Props for the interviewer’s improv!” as another gushed: “This is epic.”
“The way Doja Cat shut her up throughout the interview,” someone else pointed out.
While a fourth fan said: “The end of western civilisation.”
