Priscilla Presley has spoken out against claims that her late ex-husband Elvis Presley had “groomed” her when she was 14 years old.
Presley began dating the legendary singer in 1959, when she was the tender age of 14. Elvis, who had been renting a house in Germany during his time in military service, was aged 24 when the pair met and after first locking eyes on each, the pair were inseparable.
Whilst the couple were clearly loved up with each other, the pair were together for a total of 14 years. During that time, Priscilla left her home in New York to move in with the Jailhouse Rock singer – the twosome also got hitched and had a child together – Lisa Marie.

After a tumultuous relationship throughout, Elvis and Priscilla called time on their marriage in 1973, though the pair remained close right up until Elvis’ death. Now, in an emotionally charged interview with Piers Morgan, Priscilla has refuted claims she was “groomed” by the singer.
Following the release of the movie based on her life and marriage to the Suspicious Minds singer, Priscilla admitted she stood by her relationship with the musical legend. She added that she never “took [the relationship] like that”, quipping that “it was a different time” back then.
Speaking to the former Good Morning Britain host, Priscilla said: “I mean, you know Elvis was – like I said – unique. I don’t know about grooming me, I didn’t take it at that, I never heard the word.”
The Dallas star, 78, said that Elvis had treated her gently and that they had a relationship that was rooted in emotions. She added that he never had a sexual relationship with her whilst she was underage.
“I was in 14 in Germany, and there was always people around,” she explained. “And our talks were – yes, private – but he never ever, ever, ever was aggressive, nor did he ever make love to me.
“I was somehow, like I said, someone he trusted to talk to and pour his heart out,” she concluded. Presley added that her ex-husband would regularly treat her during the early stages of their fledgling relationship, adding that she would “dress up” for him – something that was normal at the time, according to Priscilla.
Elvis would also go out of his way to buy his young girlfriend clothes to help her “feel good” and “not feel bad” that she would not have garments that were “suitable” for the places they would go to. Priscilla recalled that the pair would go to the cinema every night together.
Defending her past actions, Priscilla insisted: “It was a different time. It was the 60s – the early 60s – and I compare this to my mother.
“My father was in the military and my mother would dress up for my father every day when he came home from work,” she continued. “Women were that way, we were – not that it was just for our men, but we took care of ourselves and we wanted to be. When I say ‘we’, I include myself.”
