Emmerdale actor Danny Miller says his character Aaron Dingle will be “off the rails” as his relationship with his mum Chas continues to spiral.
Fans were left gobsmacked on Monday night (October 9) after it was revealed that Aaron had made an unexpected return to the Yorkshire village after his stay in Italy. Angry and dishevelled, Aaron was clearly fuming that his uncle Cain along with Caleb had decided to hold him hostage in an abandoned barn after they discovered that he had a run-in with Italian gangsters.
But while talking about his return to the soap, I’m A Celeb winner Danny explained that Aaron will not be the same man that fans know and love as he still has a bone to pick with his mother Chas following the death of his sister Liv. Speaking exclusively to Daily Star at a recent Emmerdale press screening, Danny teased that viewers will see a much darker side to Aaron.

Explaining Aaron’s mental state, he said: “His state of mind is that he didn’t want to come back. He was kind of on a self-destructive path which meant that he was more than happy to sort of either kill or be killed over there in Italy.
“It’s actually Adam who makes the call to tell Cain it’s that very much that case where he knew he was gonna be killed or someone’s gonna kill him because he’s just off the rails. He’s lost the plot entirely.
“So this state of mind is very much that he’s very selfish, quite angry and maybe slightly depressed in a sort of way I guess from everything that’s happened and he’s not dealt with the grief very well. So the state of mind is just angry at everybody and he’s just constantly looking for a fight.”
As this will be the first time Aaron returns to the village since his sister Liv’s tragic death last year, he also seems to point the blame in Chas’ direction. At the time, Chas was having a sordid affair with businessman Al Chapman which caused Aaron immense pain when he found out. He continued: “Most of the time he just wants the ground to swallow him really, I think it just brings back so many dark memories of everything that kind of happened with Liv.

He blames Chas tremendously for that because he believes Liv wouldn’t be out there in the storm had she not been playing away with Al and how Paddy wasn’t aware of it and how had to keep that secret and leave. This kind of makes him even more angry.
Danny then went on to describe Aaron’s relationship with Chas as “toxic”. He added: “I think Chas almost thinks it’s old ground and it’s buried whereas Aaron is the complete opposite end of that. He blames her for the way he’s feeling and that fact he didn’t get to grieve Liv.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
