Emmerdale viewers went wild as fan-favourite Aaron Dingle returned to the village, but they have now begged for another familiar face to make a comeback.
Aaron, played by Danny Miller, officially bid farewell to the Dales in 2021, however the character returned in October 2022 as part of the soap’s 50th anniversary. Following the death of his little sister, Liv (Isobel Steele), and the discovery that mum Chas (Lucy Pargeter) was cheating on Paddy (Dominic Brunt), Aaron left the village behind once again and hasn’t been seen since.
That was until the latest instalment of the ITV soap. During Monday’s (October 9) episode, Aaron was revealed to be the person Cain (Jeff Hordley) and Caleb (Will Ash) had locked up in the abandoned house on Wylie’s farm.

The brothers had been acting suspicious ever since returning from their mysterious road trip, and Moira (Natalie J Robb) was determined to find out what her husband was up to. Believing Cain was dealing with stolen cars, Moira followed him to the deserted farm.

Hearing banging coming from one of the barns, Moira unlocked the door and was greeted by a hooded figure sat on a chair in the dark room. “You?!” she simply said before turning to her husband.
Cain then revealed all to Moira. He explained he’d received a call from Adam (Adam Thomas) who told him Aaron was caught up with the Mafia in Italy. Aaron tried to explain he’d been set up, while Cain kidnapped him to keep him out of trouble. Fans flocked to social media to comment on Aaron’s return, while many couldn’t help but hope for a comeback for Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley), Aaron’s ex-husband.
Sharing their thoughts on X, one person wrote: “Wouldn’t it be great if Robert came back with Aaron #Emmerdale.” A second added: “OMG. This better lead to #Robron #Emmerdale.” A third chipped in: “Are they bringing robert back as well robron #emmerdale.”
Another viewer said: “Does Aaron’s surprise return now mean that we should expect the return of Robert??” Echoing this, someone else penned: “#Emmerdale Welcome home, Aaron. Let’s have Robert back too!” A fifth agreed: “Hoping for the moment Robert comes back #Emmerdale.” While another fan begged: “Please bring Robert back too #Emmerdale #Robron.”

Aaron and the original bad boy began a steamy affair in 2014 and the couple were later affectionally dubbed Robron by fans. Viewers always stood by the couple, even when things got violent and when Robert later cheated on Aaron with former flame Rebecca White (Emily Head).
Fans were delighted when they rekindled and officially married in 2018. But their love story met a heartbreaking end when Robert was arrested for the murder of Lee Posner (Kris Mochrie), the man who raped his sister, Victoria (Isabel Hodgins). Robert was sentenced to 13 years in prison and cut all ties with Aaron after being transferred to the Isle of Wight, leaving both his husband and fans devastated.
