Fern Britton breaks silence after Phillip Schofield interview with ‘tearful’ post

Former This Morning star Fern Britton has made her first social media post since her former colleague Phillip Schofield gave his controversial interview about his scandalous affair.

The 65-year-old previously worked alongside Phillip, 61, hosting the ITV show before leaving in 2009.

It was reported that Fern and Phil had fallen out before her departure and she was later replaced by current This Morning star Holly Willoughby.

But despite Phillip’s explosive tell-all interview with the BBC’s Amol Rajan on Friday (June 2), Fern appeared to be watching something else.

Hours after it aired, mother-of-four Fern took to Twitter to reveal she was busy watching something very different, Apple TV comedy Ted Lasso.

Taking to Twitter, she wrote: “Just watched the final #TedLasso with cuppa in bed. Tears rolling down my face but such a smile in my heart. What a show what a cast what a story.”

Fern’s recent tweet was a stark difference to a tweet she had shared last month when she alluded to the scandal that had engulfed Phil and This Morning.

Hours after Phil’s affair became public knowlege, she wrote: “Unexpected calls from old mates are so lovely. Just had the loveliest catch-up with @EamonnHolmes.

“I think we have known each other since the 80s when we were babies. Shooting the breeze.”

Former This Morning presenter Eamonn Holmes also spoke about Phillip’s scandalous affair since it was bought to light.

But unlike Fern, Eamonn who previously hosted the show alongside his wife Ruth Langsford, failed to mince his words.

Speaking to Dan Wootton on GB News, he said:”All this nonsense about, ‘I’ve decided to step down’ I’m sure you did.

“Now here’s your P45, now step down. Why do we propagate this language? ‘I’ve decided to step down’ and [Holly] says the couch won’t feel the same without him being there.

Phil revealed he was “broken” after the affair

“Well she wanted him not there, so why is she moaning about the couch not feeling the same for? They deserve each other.”

In his interview with the BBC, Phillip apologised for his actions and said: “I would say to everyone, to my family, my friends, my work colleagues, the public, to ITV, my management company, to everyone that I lied to, that I am desperately sorry.”
