Gary Glitter won’t see freedom for at least two and a half years as he waits for hearing

Pop monster Gary Glitter will not taste freedom for at least another two and a half years, we can reveal.

The paedophile hitmaker has been granted a Parole Board hearing to discuss whether he is still a danger to kids.

We can disclose that the hearing is being lined up for early next year.

But he is unlikely to be ruled fit for release as he was returned to jail following a serious breach of his terms just a month after he was freed.

And a refusal would mean a standard two-year wait for a second Parole Board hearing.

A legal source revealed: “The hearing is likely to be next year. No one is rushing to get the hearing on the diary any quicker than that.

“During the next few months, Glitter will be interviewed by a prison psychologist about his reasons for the breach and they will write a report about his reasons for breaking the rules.

“But given this was such a serious breach and so soon after release it is very unlikely, he will be green-lighted for release at the hearing.”

The 79-year-old was released on licence in February after serving half of his 16-year sentence for sexually abusing three schoolgirls.

He was returned to prison for breaching his licence after his sick bail hostel behaviour was uncovered .

Footage of the fiend using a smartphone and discussing the dark web was disclosed.

He had also been ogling videos of young girls ballet dancing.

Glitter had strict rules attached to his release including ones restricting his access to communications devices.

A Probation Service spokesperson said at the time: “Protecting the public is our number one priority.

“That’s why we set tough licence conditions and when offenders breach them, we don’t hesitate to return them to custody.”

Glitter, whose real name is Paul Gadd, had a string of chart hits in the 1970s. He was convicted and jailed in 2015 for the historical sex attacks.

The Parole Board said: “We can confirm the parole review of Paul Gadd is following standard processes.”
