Girls Aloud set for epic comeback with new music and tour after ‘secret reunion’

Girls Aloud are reportedly making an epic comeback – and have made a new song dedicated to late bandmate Sarah Harding.

It’s said the iconic girl group – comprised of members Cheryl, Kimberley Walsh, Nicola Roberts and Nadine Coyle – met up in London to make a new music video in what has been “one of the best kept secrets in pop”. It comes two years after Sarah died at the age of 39 from cancer.

The track is Girls Aloud’s first in 11 years, over a decade after their 2012 song Beautiful ‘Cause You Love Me. The video will apparently see the stars clad dress up as superheroes.

A source told The Sun: “This has been one of the best kept secrets in pop, but it’s actually happening now. The girls really came back together as friends to rally around when Sarah died, and it repaired some of the old rifts and put things into perspective.

“Suddenly the reunion which had seemed totally impossible for so long just felt a totally natural thing to do — in Sarah’s honour.”The stars are also said to have plans for more new music – and even a tour.

The insider went on: “It’s going to be huge — and they’re all very excited to be back working together, even if there is a bittersweet element to it. Of course, whatever they do, there will always be nods to Sarah’s contribution to the group, too.”

The group got together in 2002 after they all won their positions in Girls Aloud on TV show Popstars: The Rivals. They went on to have hits like Sound Of The Underground, Jump and No Good Advice and have also enjoyed solo success.

In 2020, Sarah confirmed that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and that it had spread. She passed away in September 2021 and her bandmates told of their heartache as they paid tribute.

“Electric girl, you made us,” Nicola wrote on Instagram. “You gave it everything and still with a smile.”

Last year the singers reunited for the first time in years to honour the late star. Cheryl, Nadine and Nicola all got together in London to take part in Race For Life, and although Kimberley couldn’t make it in person she joined them for an Instagram Live.
