Emmerdale fans were seething as Bernice Blackstock has been “ruined” following her sudden exit.
During Friday’s instalment (November 10) of the ITV soap, Bernice (Samantha Giles) continued ignoring phone calls. When she eventually answered the phone, she told sister Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) and daughter Gabby (Rosie Bentham) that it was her mum calling from abroad.
But as she walked away, Bernice sounded alarmed and insisted she would sort out the problem. Later in the episode, Nicola was stunned when she saw bailiffs removing items from her home.

The men claimed they had called Nicola numerous times warning what they were going to do. A baffled Nicola was lost for words when they gave her a document showing she had taken a loan out of £20,000 and hadn’t paid it back.
Meanwhile, it became clear that it was actually Bernice as she watched the drama unfold from the B&B window. Witnessing Nicola’s distress, Bob (Tony Audenshaw) questioned whether Bernice should go out and support her.
When she agreed, it appeared Bernice decided to go and help Nicola. At the end of the episode, Nicola ran into Bob and asked where she could find Bernice. With a confused Bob explaining that he thought Bernice had already been to see her, Nicola was shocked when she spotted a letter with her name on it.

In the letter, Bernice confessed to taking out the loan in her sister’s name before Nicola announced that her sister had done a runner. With actress Samantha confirming her departure from the soap in October, fans have been left wondering if that’s the last they have seen of the character.
Swarming social media, one wrote: “If that’s Bernice exit that is lame.” Another agreed: “What a ridiculously low-key exit for Bernice.” A third added: “As an exit for Bernice that was crap #emmerdale use some imagination please!!!!!!!!!!”

Echoing this, someone else penned: “That’s such a rubbish exit for Bernice.” While others believe the character was “ruined” by writers in order to fit in with her exit.
One shared: “Of course they had to turn Bernice into a twat doing that to Nicola to help with her leaving plot.” Agreeing, a second weighed in: “no way would Bernice have done that they’ve totally ruined her character. Gotta wonder if it’s spite from on high cos she wanted to leave.”
A third declared: “Bernice stealing her money because they needed a way to write her out.” While another viewer fumed: “Seriously #Emmerdale you expect us to believe Bernice would con Nicola.”
