Johnny Depp shocks locals with unexpected arrival at Lincolnshire antique shop

American actor Johnny Depp left Lincolnshire village shopworkers stunned when he dropped by unannounced to buy some guitars.

The Hollywood actor rocked up to the Hemswell Antique Centre in Hemswell Cliff on Friday (March 3) after arriving by helicopter.

Although it’s well known that Johnny is a die-hard music fan, locals would have been forgiven for looking twice if they saw him drop into the shop.

And it is believed that his visit was secretly arranged by the antique shop, which has links to Pinewood Studios.

MailOnline reports that the owner of the store, Robert Miller, knew that a “special guest” was due to arrive, but wasn’t aware of the identity of the famous face until he walked through the door.

Robert said that Johnny was “down-to-earth” and had his identity concealed because he “just wanted to relax and walk round without being bombarded by the general public”.

The acting legend is said to have bought a selection of ‘quirky’ items, including three guitars

The owner of the antiques shop is said to have overheard the Kentucky-born actor talking about late musician Jeff Beck, who was his close pal, while he was testing different guitars.

Jeff, who was known for being a guitarist in the band Yardbirds, died in January aged 78, with the music legend even releasing an album with Johnny in 2022.

The album the duo released was called 18, with them playing a few live gigs together, and when Jeff’s death was announced, Johnny spoke of being “devastated”.

But three guitars weren’t the only things Johnny purchased, because he also invested in “a lot of quirky items” which included a desk chair, paint sets, easels, pictures, posters and other decorative items.

The owner of the shop added: “He chose a vase with a skull on it.

“Guitars obviously. He was very friendly with, best friends with Jeff Beck, he sat and played a few tunes on this guitar I think just for old times’ sake really and then decided to buy three of the guitars that were there.”
