Love Island star Chris Hughes came to blows with this new TV pal Anton Ferdinand during filming for a Channel 4 show.
Daily Star spoke exclusively to Chris as he promoted Cornetto Ice Cream’s new campaign ‘The Cornetto Trilogy’ as it sets out to persuade film director Edgar Wright to include the product in his next film.
Earlier this year, Chris filmed Don’t Look Down where celebrities were put to the test on their fear of heights all for the Stand Up to Cancer cause. However, despite making “great friends and getting on well with everyone”, Chris said that the challenges put him on edge.

This brought out a more “flappy” side of him which led him to bicker with some of his co-stars which included former professional footballer Anton. During a particularly tough challenge, Anton had asked him not to tell the rest of the cast how terrifying it was – as they still had to take their turn.
But upon his return, Chris did the exact opposite and struck further fear into his co-stars. Anton overheard this as he was waiting to make the jump himself which led Anton to tell him to “Shut the f*** up”.
Chris explained: “The girls were asking me how it was and he hadn’t done it yet. So I’m just telling them and Anton could hear the conversation and he likes to go in his own zone before a challenge because he struggled with his heights as well. And he said ‘Chris, just shut up’ and I was already stressed by that point and my water bottle had to take a flying leap. But now Anton and I are very close, so it’s all good now.”
Chris also explained how he went into a fit of rage over the clash on the latest episode of GK Barry’s Saving Grace podcast where he spoke with Anton and Grace, who both starred with him on the show. Chris also laughed about how he launched his water bottle at the mountain in a “rage”.
The Islander said: “It can be a bit demoralising when you don’t complete a challenge… I was annoyed at myself because I knew when you said ‘Chris, shut the f*** up’. I took that personally because, in my head, I was flapping anyway. I didn’t realise he was there listening.”
Anton laughed: “I wasn’t watching you listening, I was leaning over the barriers trying to avoid it and focus on what I was about to do. Because I was thinking I can’t do this one and I could hear you saying that ‘It’s the worst thing’ and I just lost my s***.”
Daily Star chatted to Chris as he helped Cornetto Ice Cream launch their new campaign as they pleaded to director Edgar Wright to feature their product in his next film to create a ‘Cornetto Quadrilogy’.
Cornetto Ice Cream has held open casting auditions encouraging aspiring actors and industry veterans alike to exhibit their talent by filming a scene featuring a Cornetto. Making an appearance during the open auditions at London’s Mount Pleasant Studio, Chris showed up to wait in line with budding actors to put his own spin on iconic movie scenes featuring the tasty treat.
When Chris found out that the next Edgar Wright movie would potentially not feature a Cornetto, he was very shocked and hoped the auditions would inspire them to reconsider including a Cornetto in their next movie.
This comes after the director recently shattered hopes for a continuation to his and Simon Pegg’s trio of movies, affectionately known as ‘The Cornetto Trilogy’, which includes Shaun of The Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World’s End.
Chris commented: “I have been a long-time fan of the Cornetto Trilogy, and when I found out that that the next Edgar Wright movie would potentially not feature a Cornetto, I was very shocked. It’s been a great experience recreating these classic movie moments and hopefully it will inspire them to reconsider including a Cornetto in their next movie.’’
