Post hilariously noted that “some of the best songwriting is done on the sh**ter” before Alex mentioned she’d heard he writes his songs while “on shrooms and on the toilet”.

Malone then explained: “I’ve had some of the meanest sh**s of my life [while on] shrooms. Whenever I was a kid, it would be like, beer and shrooms for four days, not eating anything, and I would be like: ‘Guys, I’m going to die right now’.”

Post spoke to podcast host Alex Cooper

The rapper then joked that he “once lost ten pounds from tripping” and explained that sometimes being on shrooms was like “knocking on Hell’s gate”.

Elsewhere in the podcast, Malone revealed the truth behind his stage name.

The rapper, real name Austin Post, opened up about how he landed on the moniker Post Malone.

Malone once went on a four day “beer and shrooms” bender

When asked whether he sees Post Malone as an alter ego, Austin told Cooper: “Everything is me, my name is Austin, everyone calls me Austin.”

He continued: “Whenever I introduce myself I say Austin. I got Post Malone from putting my name in a rap name generator in high school!”

When the star read the suggestion generated by the website, Austin decided to stick with “Malone” because he “thought it was cool”.

He then admitted that he originally “wanted a name like Wiz Khalifa,” but confessed he doesn’t think Post Malone is “nearly as cool,” although it has “two words” so they are somewhat similar.

The singer also explained the meaning behind his rap name

Alex then asked the singer “how his tour is going” and Post explained that it was “amazeballs” because he is “having so much fun” on tour with a band.

He said that “for the longest time” he would be on stage by himself, which “could get lonely”.

Cooper asked him to explain the reason behind his tour name, If Y’All Weren’t Here, I’d Be Crying.

Malone joked that it is “true for the most part” and assured fans he is “super happy now”.
