Post Malone has revealed the real meaning behind his unusual stage name and fans may be shocked to discover how he landed on the moniker.
Malone appeared on the Call Her Daddy podcast with host Alex Cooper, who quizzed him about his life, career and name.
Cooper questioned the singer and asked whether he sees Post Malone as an alter ego or as the same person, to which he responded: “Everything is me, my name is Austin, everyone calls me Austin.”

“Whenever I introduce myself I say Austin. I got Post Malone from putting my name in a rap name generator in high school!”
Post’s real name is Austin Post and once faced with the rap name suggestion, he decided to stick with Post Malone as he “thought it was cool”.
“I wanted a name like Wiz Khalifa, but it’s not nearly as cool as Wiz Khalifa. It has two words, so it’s kind of like Wiz Khalifa!”
Cooper went on to question the singer about his tour and asked “how tour is going”.
Post admitted that it is “amazeballs” and is “having so much fun” on his first tour with a band.
He explained that “for a long time” it was “just him up on stage” which could “get lonely”.
After explaining his stage name, Austin then clarified the reason behind his unusual tour name If Y’All Weren’t Here, I’d Be Crying.
Malone joked that the name is “true for the most part” before saying that he is “actually super happy now”.
“It’s super interesting, being out on tour for a long time. For a long time, we ran around the world, especially when I was younger and I could, before Covid and all that stuff.”
The star then confessed to Alex that it is “hard being on tour because he’s old” before the pair laughed at the fact he is only 28.
Post explained that when his career started out he was “only 19” but now he is “super tired” and his “knees click”.
Cooper suggested that the singer get a knee brace and Post joked that he “wanted to go Stone Cold Steve Austin with a double brace”.
