Priscilla Presley in TV return in Elvis Netflix series, weeks after Lisa-Marie's death

Priscilla Presley is set to make her long awaited TV return after landing a role in a new animated Netflix series, Agent Elvis.

The 77-year-old will voice a character based on herself in the adult fantasy drama, alongside Matthew McConaughey who has been cast as her late husband, widely known as ‘The King’.

According to the streaming giant the show will follow Elvis as he “trades in his jumpsuit for a jetpack when he joins a secret government spy program to help battle the dark forces that threaten the country”.

It marks Priscilla’s biggest role since she appeared in several episodes of sitcom Spin City in 1999.

In a sneak preview of the upcoming cartoon, meanwhile, Heartbreak Hotel star Elvis can be seen wearing an ‘Agent King’ name tag.

He then enters a warehouse where work is underway on a huge laser beam. He asks: “Who are you people, and what is all this?” before being told: “The chance to weaponise rock ‘n’ roll. Time for Elvis to become an agent!”

The show which also stars Don Cheadle, Niecy Nash, Kaitlin Olson and Johnny Knoxville, follows on hot the heels of last year’s critically acclaimed big-screen biopic, simply titled Elvis.

Starring Austin Butler, it went on to win a plethora of awards – including A Golden Globe for Best Actor gong for the 32-year-old’s portrayal of The King.

Priscilla will be looking to put a difficult start to the year behind her following the death of her daughter Lisa-Marie at the age of 54.

She was left needing CPR on January 12 and was rushed to hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest at her home in Calabasas, California, where she later died.

Announcing the news, Priscilla said: “It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us.

“She was the most passionate strong and loving woman I have ever known. We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss.”

Agent Elvis hits screens on March 17.
