Rebecca Black is completely unrecognisable more than a decade after the music video for her hit song Friday went viral and thrust her into the limelight.
Since 2011, the YouTube video has been viewed a mammoth 168million times, and the initial reaction left her in tears as viewers panned the then-13-year-old for producing what was dubbed “the worst song ever”.
The reaction completely flipped her life upside down and earlier this year, she told NPR she had “struggled” in her teen years.

She said: “Millions of people having awareness that you exist as a teenager is really complicated, and something I didn’t really understand. And probably still don’t understand now.
“I’ve struggled a lot, as somebody who’s grown into who I am now.”
But flash forward 12 years and life is now very different for Rebecca. Gone is the fresh-faced school student waiting at the bus stop with her rucksack. Instead, the now 26-year-old has adopted a darker, edgier style.
Posting to her 972,000 followers on Instagram, Rebecca recently uploaded a snap of her donning knee-high black leather boots and chains around her wrists. She now also sports tattoos on her arms and thighs with her fans flocking to the comments to praise her new style.
One wrote: “You’re such a glam badass babe!!! Love you RB!” while another admitted they were “thirsty AF for Rebecca”.
And along with her new look has come more success as a performer. She released her debut album, Let Her Burn, in February of this year and it has been met with rave reviews. Alongside her touring, she has also carved out a new career as an influencer.
She told NPR that without the attention that Friday brought, she wouldn’t be the performer she is now, adding: “I think that the actual best thing that came out of it was it put me to the place that I am now.
“I guess I don’t know if I would be the same person – I definitely wouldn’t be the same person I am now if that had never happened to me.”
And it looks like she may have also found love. She came out as queer on the Dating Straight podcast back in 2020 and said: “To me the word ‘queer’ feels really nice.
“I’ve dated a lot of different types of people and I just don’t really know what the future holds. Some days I feel a little more on the gay side than others.”
As of earlier this year, she was in a relationship with a music producer “a couple of years older” than her.
