Shane MacGowan sadly died last month at 65-years-old after an ongoing health battle.
The Pogues’ frontman has left behind a huge fortune after making his mark on the music industry with multiple classic hits – including a festive favourite, Fairytale of New York. The song has been a huge hit on the radio since its release in 1988.
Even this year it landed the sixth spot in the UK Christmas charts and has become a staple sing-along song. Following Shane’s death, it’s been reported that he’s built up a whopping £4million fortune in his lifetime.

The Mirror has reported that the star would bring in between £216,000 and £260,000 per year in royalties from the festive classic alone.
Fairytale of New York became such a staple for Shane that at his funeral, attendees sang the track as the music blared throughout the church. Mourners also danced along to the song as they celebrated his legacy.
His sister Siobhan told them afterwards that he would have enjoyed it. His wife, Victoria May Clarke also spoke about Shane at his funeral as she declared they were “destined to be together”.
She said on December 8 how she felt like she’d “won the lottery” when he told her he loved her. Victoria added: “I felt like there was nothing more that my life needed in order to be complete than to be with him, and I’m very grateful.”
At the end of the service, his former bandmates, Jem Finer, Terry Woods, spider Stacy and James Fearnley, performed a final song. Shane died on November 30, with his wife Victoria confirming the news and said her husband “meant the world” to her.
She added: “He will always be the light that I hold before me and the measure of my dreams and the love of my life and the most beautiful soul and beautiful angel and the sun and the moon and the start and end of everything that I hold dear.”
His spokesperson then confirmed he had “died peacefully” at 3:30am on November 30 with his wife and sister by his side. The singer had been dealing with health battles for a while, but it was ultimately reported that he died from pneumonia.
