Strictly’s Amy Dowden shares heartbreaking health update after recent hospital dash

Strictly’s Amy Dowden has shared another devastating health update after she was rushed to hospital when she suffered another health blow following her breast cancer battle.

On Thursday (November 30), the professional ballroom dancer revealed she was diagnosed with a blood clot on her lung after her recent hospital visit on Monday (November 27). The 32-year-old star – who completed her chemotherapy treatment three weeks ago – reassured fans that she is recovering well.

Taking to Instagram, the BBC star candidly detailed her “nightmare week” to her loyal legion of fans online. Speaking in a video, Amy explained: “Unfortunately, I’ve had another nightmare this week. Just seems to be never-ending…

“They were really worried that the clot was travelling to my heart or effecting my heart. Lucky enough, it’s not.” The Welsh beauty showed puncture marks on her wrist and hands and said she’d had drips “everywhere”.

It comes after Amy revealed that she had recently broken her foot just days after ringing the bell after she completed her cancer treatment earlier this month. Taking to Instagram, the star shared a picture of her foot strapped up in a medical boot as she shared her new injury online.

She wrote: “Not the week I was hoping for since finishing chemo. Port out but unfortunately gained a boot for a fractured foot. Absolutely gutted and heartbroken as this means the plans for me to dance in the Strictly Ballroom this year are no longer possible.

“This is what has kept me going the past few months. 2023 is certainly not my year, roll on 2024 I say!”

Earlier this week, the TV sensation shared the dazzling snaps taken in a glamorous photoshoot for Women’s Health UK as the magazine’s December cover star. The ballroom expert was the vision of beauty as she posed up a storm in the glamorous spread and opened up about her diagnosis in May.

The star embraced her natural beauty as she ditched the wig for the stunning snaps and shared her hopes to inspire others who are battling cancer. She added: “I just want to be treated as normal.

“When I’m walking outside and I’ve got my head scarf on, I don’t want looks of sympathy or feeling sorry for me – I’m Amy. Sometimes, people don’t know how to address it.

“Just ask how I am – I will answer you. We don’t want you to feel sorry for us. We’re embracing it. Stand strong with us… Don’t give me that pity look – I don’t need it!”

This isn’t Amy’s first health battle, with the star diagnosed with Chron’s disease at the age of 19 after eight years of experiencing symptoms. She went on: “I always say, I never asked [for] this to happen to me.

“I’ve always worked so hard. I’ve always been a good person. I’ve looked after myself, I’ve exercised well, haven’t smoked… I do get angry. I just think I’ve been dealt a difficult one.

“I think it’ll take a while to accept. It took me a long time to accept my Chron’s. Until I’m back dancing and back to my normal self, I don’t think I will accept it.”
