BBC bosses ‘keen to sign Traitors star’ for Strictly Come Dancing in show first

BBC bosses are reportedly trying to get a contestant from The Traitors to strut their stuff on Strictly Come Dancing.

It’s said producers are looking to capitalise on the success of The Traitors, which is also hosted by Strictly host Claudia Winkleman, by signing either runner-up Mollie Pearce or winner Harry Clark. It’s said there’s also the potential that Traitors star Paul Gorton could lace up his dancing shoes.

A source told The Sun: “Strictly is still four months away and there’s still so much to play for, but The Traitors are obviously at the forefront of everyone’s mind,” adding: “It would also be a nice tie-in given both shows are hosted by Claudia Winkleman.”, reports the Mirror.

“Mollie’s appearance would also represent a major moment of inclusion for people with disabilities. But, just as with ‘The Traitors’, she first has to fight off competition from rivals Paul [Gorton] and Harry.”

When reached for a comment, a Strictly spokesperson stated: “We do not comment on speculation.” Rumour has it that the new Strictly season will cast the likes of Olympian Laura Kenny, Gladiators’ powerhouse Nitro, Love Island star and boxer Tommy Fury.

And actor Dominic West has also thrown his name into the mix. The 54 year old star, famed for roles in The Crown and The Wire, is dead keen on waltzing onto the dance floor.

Chatting with This Morning hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary, he was asked if he’d fancy a spin on ‘Strictly’, to which he replied: “I would love to, yeah I would do it. Did you see Pride? I did a two-minute dance.”

Asked why he hasn’t been on the show yet, he joked: “I don’t know, maybe they didn’t like that [his dancing in ‘Pride’].”

Dominic’s also got his eye on a certain dance partner none other than the legendary Anton Du Beke, who’s hung up his dancing shoes for the judge’s seat. When probed about who he’d want to tango with, he hinted: “I don’t know … Anton? “. Dermot quipped back: “Get him out of retirement! “.
