She’s the hot favourite to bag the Britain’s Got Talent crown, but Sydnie Christmas says she’ll return to her day job at the gym tomorrow.
The bookies are backing Sydnie all the way, giving her 2/15 odds to win BGT and take home the £250,000 prize, reports the Mirror. But despite being on the cusp of stardom and a hefty cash prize, the songstress isn’t ready to ditch her fitness centre gig she’s got bills to pay.
The 28 year old told the Mirror: “I’ve already had two weeks off and I’m on a zero-hours contract. I have rent to pay!”.

But she can’t deny that her life might be about to change dramatically after her powerhouse performances won over the judges and secured her a spot in the final. With an estimated 10 million viewers set to watch the ITV1 talent show finale on Sunday (June 2) Sydnie wants to storm the West End.
“In a year’s time, I hope I’m living my dream,” she said. “I want to be doing what I love for a living instead of rolling towels and making shakes!”. She said: “I’d love to be on the West End stage. I want to be near my family and the West End is where to do it.”
Sharing her excitement, the singer explained: “With this opportunity, I feel like the world is my oyster at the minute. I feel up to any opportunity. I just want to grab it with both hands and jump into it.”
Her rendition of Frank Sinatra’s iconic tune, My Way, was a standout moment in the semis, though Sydnie confesses she was a bundle of nerves. She revealed: “My voice coach had to walk me on to the stage because I was so nervous. I’m very happy it didn’t look that way because I was terrified.”
Part of the jitters came from putting her own spin on the classic hit. Reflecting on her performance, Sydnie mused: “It was My Own Way, wasn’t it? ” adding, “I just really hoped it would land.”
Sydnie’s cover of the classic left the BGT judges absolutely gobsmacked, with Amanda Holden praising her for her “fire and strength” and even dishing out a massive cuddle after the performance. Bruno Tonioli was wowed, calling it “stunning”, while Alesha Dixon reckoned Sydnie is a “superstar in the making”.
Simon Cowell was so impressed he gave her a score that broke the scale, saying she was an 11 out of 10, but Sydnie was just over the moon, gushing: “I would have never thought in a million years I’d make it to a final. It is unbelievable. I’m ecstatic.”
After her performance, she was met with a standing ovation from the crowd and the judges, and Amanda couldn’t resist smashing her Golden Buzzer for Sydnie, catapulting her straight into the semi-finals. The judge was absolutely gobsmacked, calling her act “absolutely phenomenal”.
