Blake Lively has admitted she felt “fat-shamed” by her It Ends With Us co-star.
The 36-year-old Hollywood actor has been starring in the box office smash that hit released in the UK last Friday (August 9). The intense love story, based on the book by Colleen Hoover, follows the story of a couple who eventually fall into patterns of manipulation and abuse.
Acting alongside her co-star and screenplay writer Justin Baldoni, the Gossip Girl favourite has been praised by critics for the raw and emotional delivery of her character. But when the cameras stopped rolling, Blake admitted that she felt uncomfortable on the set of the film herself, after reportedly being talked down to.

Speaking to American magazine TMZ, sources close to Blake said that the incident took place during the course of filming. In one romantic scene, Justin’s character Ryle Kincaid lifts Blake’s character Lily Bloom up into the air – in what is meant to be a touching and intimate moment.
But according to sources, actor Justin had issues with lifting Blake, due to his previous history of having back problems. In an attempt to try and perfect the move, Justin had an on-set personal trainer to help him be able to hold her up during the scene.
Insiders told the outlet how Justin reportedly went to his trainer to ask how much Blake weighed and was unsure how he could lift her and stop his back from being injured further. However, word soon spread back to Blake, who admitted she felt “fat-shamed” by the remark.
This particularly affected the movie star, who gave birth to her fourth child in February last year. Her husband, fellow actor Ryan Reynolds, now have brought four children into the world together.
Sources on the set of the film said that Blake was reportedly so uncomfortable on set that a second incident took place in the midst of filming. One insider claimed that Justin lingered on Blake for longer than was appropriate after they shared an on-screen kiss scene.
Production crew on the film confirmed to TMZ that tension had been building between the two actors, with the pair now reportedly having bad blood between them. However, insiders added that Justin was not the only guilty party and that the situation is more nuanced.
Running for over two hours, It Ends With Us has been met with mixed reviews from critics. Blake and Justin’s performances were commended – albeit with “clunky dialogue”, as explained in one review.
Daily Star has reached out to Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni for a comment. The film has already grossed nearly $100million (£77,486,300) at the box office on its opening weekend.
This signals a clear divide between what critics made of the storyline and how the viewing public felt whilst watching it.
