Britain’s Got Talent judge breaks set as auditions for new ITV series kick off

The search for the next winner of Britain’s Got Talent is underway, but already a judge has broken the set of the show.

The audition stage for the hit ITV show kicked off last week at the London Palladium theatre. Hundreds of acts have passed through the stage hoping to impress judges Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, Bruno Tonioli and Simon Cowell and make it through to the live shows.

During the first day of auditions at the iconic entertainment venue, it was clear that one act really struck a chord with judge Bruno. Within minutes of sitting down to judge the acts, Bruno was so impressed he hit the so-called ‘golden buzzer’, sending the act straight through to the live shows.

However, Bruno seemed to be so enthusiastic at sending the act through that he proceeded to smash the buzzer. As a result, this left the buzzer completely out of action, whilst set designers rushed to replace it.

Warm-up man Stuart Holdham was left stunned after the act had left the stage, trying to keep the audience entertained whilst crew members fought to fix the now-broken buzzer. “Guys, this has never happened before, he’s actually smashed the golden buzzer!” he exclaimed, sending waves of laughter throughout the hall.

Alesha, similarly stunned at Bruno’s strength, uploaded a picture of the smashed buzzer to her Instagram account. Captioning the pic of the broken button, she penned: “Day 1 and Bruno is back, not breaking rules but breaking buzzers!”

Whilst fans of the show will be eager to find out who the lucky contestant to make Bruno react so strongly was, viewers will have to wait until spring for all to be revealed. Auditions are still currently taking place and will be seen across the country, with stops being made in Manchester and London, among other cities.

Passionate Italian Bruno has a troubled history with the golden buzzer after causing a ruckus as he tried to understand its purpose. In his first ever episode on the show, where he replaced David Walliams, he gave his first ever golden buzzer to the dance troupe Ghetto Kids.

Unfortunately for Bruno, however, he made a fatal mistake which caused commotion for the troupe themselves as he hit the golden buzzer mid-way through the performance. This caused confusion, as judges are usually meant to wait until after the act has finished to hit the button.

Luckily for Bruno, the Ghetto Kids were able to continue their performance and finish on time before celebrating. The troupe managed to reach the final of the series, before finishing in a respectable sixth place in the final.
