Former Coronation Street actress Nicola Thorp has given birth to her first child.
The 34-year-old star and her partner Niskesh Patal announced the exciting news on Thursday (January 4) on Instagram alongside an emotional message for their fans. While admitting they were “delighted” to welcome their daughter into the world, the new mum also shared that being on social media was a “difficult place” due to the ongoing Hamas-Israel conflict.
Sharing a sweet photo of their baby girl, Nicola wrote alongside in the caption box: “We are delighted to say that we recently welcomed our beautiful baby daughter into the world. Everything they say about birth being a rollercoaster of emotions is true. We’re shattered and smitten and everything in between.”

She continued: “Social media is a difficult place right now. If your timeline is anything like ours, it’s filled with images of babies and children dying in conflict or living in fear and unimaginable danger. It doesn’t feel right to share our news on her without also acknowledging how fortunate we are that our baby is safe.

In January 2023, the couple announced their engagement and jokingly posed with their mouths open wide as she displayed the gold ring, featuring an emerald surrounded by diamonds, with a second picture showing them cosying up together.

The TV star first revealed she was in a relationship with the actor in 2021, posting a sweet snap of the couple on social media. Nikesh has appeared in a number of TV shows including Channel 4’s Indian Summers, BBC’s Starstruck and the mini-series Four Weddings and a Funeral.
Nicola famously starred on the long-running ITV soap Corrie from 2017 to 2019, playing social worker Nicola Rubinstein, who was the estranged daughter of serial killer Pat Phelan and she has also starred in Celebrity Hunted. Since October, Nicola has been co-hosting breakfast TV show, Talk Today, with Jeremy Kyle on TalkTV.

Speaking about her new job, Nicola previously said: “I’ve been part of the TalkTV family for the past 18 months, during which time I’ve connected with people who have challenged my opinions and taught me how to find common ground across the political divide. I’m looking forward to hearing from our viewers all over the UK about what matters most to them and holding politicians to account. It’s important to both me and Jeremy that everyone gets a voice.”
