Corrie Roy Cropper death ‘sealed’ in vicious attack as fans spot eerie song clue

A Coronation Street stalwart could be killed off in emotional scenes next week as the truth about what happened to Lauren Bolton is finally exposed.

Fans have spotted a major “clue” that it could be the end for Roy Cropper, who is currently in prison suspected of murdering the teenager. Spoilers have revealed Roy is told to say his last words by far right maniac Griff Reynolds, who sneaks into Roy’s cell with a knife.

A new trailer for the ITV soap has dropped, teasing what is certain to be a messy week on the ITV cobbles. Shot in reverse, the trailer first shows Carla Connor, Dee-Dee Bailey and Sarah Platt walking on the street, before abuser Nathan Curtis heads past Bethany Platt in his van with a menacing smile.

Dee-Dee tells a worried Roy that his case will “just take time”, but Roy fears he “doesn’t have much time” left. We then see Carla begging DS Swain to look at other suspects, before Hope Stape is spotted holding the very necklace Lauren received from her mystery boyfriend.

Finally, Lauren can be seen shouting for help in her flat, before a gloved hand comes to cover her mouth – and muffle her screams. Griff threatens to “put Roy out of his misery” in a shocking scene.

But there’s one aspect of the new trailer that has fans certain it’s the end for Roy – the classical music playing in the background. One fan said it’s the same piece Roy’s wife Hayley died to after her cancer battle, writing on Instagram: “The music in this trailer is the piece Hayley died to, IF ROY DIES I SWEAR!”

Someone else posted: “Wait this is the same song Roy played for Hayley when she died… please nooooo.”

The piece of music used in the background of both clips is Ralph Vaughan Willias’ The Lark Ascending, which originally played on a CD for Hayley when she drank her lethal cocktail of medicine to end her pain. It was his late wife’s favourite piece – and fans think it could have a chilling connection to what happens next with Roy.

Other fans were left baffled by how the necklace got into Hope’s hands, and turned to X to vent their frustration. One user penned: “Wait, how exactly does Lauren’s necklace end up in Hope’s possession of all people? Did she just happen to accidentally stumble across it, not knowing what she found?”

Another agreed: “Ooooh while this Lauren storyline is dragging I wanna know why Hope is randomly involved in this story from that trailer, why does she have the necklace?” As a third joked: “I’m calling it! Hope Stape killed Lauren!”
