Will Mellor hit out at his local council after a huge tree fell onto his wall.
The Corrie star, who just returned to the cobbles as badboy Harvey Gaskell, had a rather close call with the collapsed tree that was battered by Storm Henk, the UK’s first storm of the year. He had been taking down his Christmas decorations inside of his home when he noticed the dangerously high winds outside.
The 47-year-old actor went outside to investigate and noticed a massive tree had crashed onto his redbrick wall on the side of the road. He decided to complain about his council in a video posted on Instagram, where he pointed out someone “could have been killed”.

He ranted: “I’ve just come out of the house because I saw the wind in the trees and I was taking my decorations down – and look!” He pointed to the tree that been completely uprooted by the wind, exposing its roots.
“This just happened. The tree has been ripped completely out of the ground. I’ve been telling the council about these trees for years because they’re dead. I knew something was going to happen! It could’ve killed someone – look at that.”
He let out a big sigh as he added: “Don’t go outside!”. In his caption he wrote: “I just watched this happen!!!” adding two angry emojis and the hashtags: “#weatherwarning #dangerous #galeforcewinds.”
Fans shared his frustration and rushed to the comments to offer their support. “Omg scary. If only they’d listened! You stay safe x,” wrote one.
“Thank god it landed against the wall and not on top of someone,” said another. A third commented: “I’d be concerned about that huge crack in your wall now, get a claim in!”.
Storm Henk has delivered winds up to 80mph and caused severe disruption across the UK. The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning.
Mellor is starring in ITV’s new four-part drama series Mr Bates v the Post Office. The show is based on the British Post Office scandal, which saw hundreds of sub-postmasters wrongly prosecuted for theft, false accounting and fraud.
