Daniel Craig admits one ‘nightmare’ Bond film should have ‘never been produced’

Daniel Craig has admitted one iconic Bond movie was a “nightmare” to film.

The actor is best known for playing the spy character between 2006, starting with Casino Royale, right through to 2022’s No Time To Die. However, it is his thoughts on the second film Quantum of Solace that has got the internet talking.

His second Bond film was made during the 2007-2008 writers’ strike and Craig described the filming process as a “difficult second album” and a “f—ing nightmare”. According to the star, actors were filming without much of a script to work through.

He told The Hollywood Reporter: “We should never have started production,” and confessed that the ended up “writing a lot of lines” for the movie.

“There are some amazing stunt sequences in it but it just didn’t quite work. The storytelling wasn’t there. That’s a lesson – starting a movie without a script is not a good idea.”

While filming Quantum of Solace, Daniel actually injured himself three times. However, in 2022 he admitted he wished he’d not complained so much about hurting himself.

In an interview with The Los Angeles Times back in 2022, Craig said: “I’m pissed off at myself that I ever even spoke about them. It’s my fault because I kind of didn’t shut up about the fact that I had all these injuries.”

“The physical side of the movies was just the job. I had to do it. I trained, learned the fights, that’s kind of my brain not working. I put way more work into the creative side of those movies than I did into the physical side of those movies.”

Aside from his iconic role as James Bond, Craig is also known for his other Hollywood characters in blockbuster films such as Layer Cake, The Golden Compass, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Knives Out.
