Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs has finally broken his silence after video footage of him allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura from 2016 resurfaced online.
The 54-year-old rapper took to Instagram on Sunday afternoon (May 19) to issue an apology in front of his millions of followers online. In the clip, he confessed: “I hit rock bottom, but I make no excuses.”
Addressing the claims, Diddy looked straight down the camera lens when he said: “So difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, sometimes you got to do that. I was f***ed up.

“I mean I hit rock bottom, but I make no excuses, my behaviour in that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video, disgusting.”
He went on: “I was disgusted then when I did it, I am disgusted now. I went and I sought out professional help, I got into going to therapy, going to rehab.
“Asked God for his mercy and grace. I’m so sorry. But I am committed to be a better man each and every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness, I’m truly sorry.”
It comes after unearthed footage from 2016 resurfaced from the now-closed InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles, obtained by CNN. The now-viral footage appears to show Diddy and Cassie in a physical altercation that matches events laid out in her lawsuit.
Cassie came forward with allegations against the Coming Home hitmaker in November 2023, but the pair settled the lawsuit out of court weeks later. In the footage, Cassie can be seen walking over to the lifts in the hallway of the hotel.
It’s at this point that Diddy appears to run after his then-girlfriend when he grabs her by the neck and throws her to the ground while holding a towel around his waist. Diddy is then seen kicking her twice before he retrieves the luggage that was by the elevator.
He is then seen in the footage dragging her by a sweatshirt towards a room. After Cassie stands up, the jaw-dropping footage shows through a mirror that Diddy appears to shove her.
He’s later seen sitting in a chair with only a towel around his body before he launched an object at Cassie.
