Eamonn Holmes’ bombshell confidante admits she is ‘in it for the long haul’

The woman who has helped console Eamonn Holmes in his divorce from former partner Ruth Langsford has reportedly told pals that she is in it for “the long haul”.

Holmes, 63, was revealed to be splitting from his wife Ruth, also 63, last month in a move that shocked the public, due to their long-lasting relationship. Since then, Ruth has stayed out of the limelight opting to go through the proceedings privately.

Eamonn, however, has thrown himself back into work – making a return to his GB News programme just two days following the announcement of their split. Since then, he has been seen with a blonde woman on a number of occasions, as well as being papped at his home.

It has now been revealed that the woman in question who has provided a shoulder for Eamonn to cry on is 42-year-old relationship counsellor Katie Alexander. On several occasions, she has been seen with the presenter and, according to friends, she wants to make it work in the long-term.

Katie Alexander is said to be in it for the long haul with the broadcaster

It is believed that she is hoping her friendship with Eamonn will blossom into something more over the coming months as she continues to be his confidante. Pals, however, have been quick to point out that her relationship to Holmes has only improved in the weeks following the divorce announcement.

Speaking to the Mirror, one insider who is close to Alexander said: “She is helping Eamonn through the tough times but doesn’t want to be seen as a marriage wrecker. The friendship has grown in recent months but Eamonn’s marriage has been over for some time.

“She wants to help Eamonn with his situation and their friendship has grown over a period of time,” they added. “She feels she will be close to him for a long period and is in this for the long haul.”

Katie had apparently met Eamonn on Twitter back in 2015 when a comment she posted had sparked a conversation the two. The friendship has steadily grown from there, with Eamonn going on to become a patron of a charity she used to work at close to where she lives in Yorkshire in October last year.

Alexander is a proud mum-of-three and currently works as a marriage counsellor. She has been linked to Eamonn as recently as last week as she rushed to comfort him during the break-up.

He admitted that he has had to get to grips with his mobility issues

As well as the divorce proceedings, Eamonn has been battling a number of different health issues including chronic back pain that erupted following surgery two years ago. Telling all back in January, he explained that he had to come to terms with the “harsh reality” he may never be able to walk unaided again.

“It’s as if somebody up there is playing with my life,” he explained. “In the past year I’ve had an operation on my back which went wrong and has confined me to a wheelchair; I’ve fallen and broken my shoulder. Honestly you could not make it up.”
