EastEnders aired a huge twist for Chelsea Fox on Monday (October 14) after her mum Denise revealed a huge secret about the club crush.
In August, a near-fatal crush at Peggy’s left a number of residents injured including Lauren Branning (played by Jacqueline Jossa) and Amy Branning (Ellie Dadd) – who suffered a cardiac arrest and is now unable to walk.
Bar manager Penny Branning (Kitty Castledine) was instantly blamed for the incident leaving dad Jack (Scott Maslen) acting cold toward her.
But Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) caused the bar to become overcrowded when she put extra tickets to the event on sale in a revenge plot against Penny. Denise Fox (Diane Parish) has known the truth for weeks but has started to grow closer to estranged husband Jack.
In the latest trip to Walford, it was the morning after the night before for Denise who spent the night with Jack as he made her breakfast.
He was told that the CCTV footage from Peggy’s was completely corrupted, meaning that there would be no evidence to clear Penny’s name.
Jack reminded Denise that their divorce hadn’t gone through yet and wanted her to consider getting back together, but Chelsea wasn’t happy when she spotted her mum leaving Jack’s house.
Chelsea was concerned that Denise would end up exposing her role in causing the crush, but she told her daughter that there was no evidence against her.
Meanwhile, Amy struggled at her physiotherapy session and had a tense argument with Penny when she showed up at the hospital.
Jack also sided with Amy as his cold behaviour towards Penny continued.
Feeling cast out by her family, Penny decided to leave Walford and move back to Paris despite being under police investigation. Love interest Harry Mitchell (Elijah Holloway) attempted to get her to stay, but Penny’s mind was made up.
Back home, Jack and Denise united as they tried to support Amy through her ordeal, when Penny arrived and announced her plans to leave the Square.
An argument erupted between the Brannings as Amy continued to blame Penny for the crush, while Denise desperately tried to keep the peace between the sisters but it all got too much.
As the Brannings were left torn apart, Denise’s guilt took over and she decided to tell the truth and confirm Penny was telling the truth – she wasn’t responsible for the incident.
“It wasn’t her that caused the crush, that put you in the hospital,” she said. “It was Chelsea.”
As the police are investigating the crush, will Chelsea’s freedom hang in the balance? Will Jack arrest Chelsea for the incident?
