Gary Barlow’s son lives very different life to Take That singer dad’s fame

Gary Barlow has shot into the headlines thanks to his unassuming son Daniel.

The Take That singer, 53, first rose to fame as part of the boyband together with Robbie Williams, Jason Orange and Mark Owen. However, while he takes to the limelight, Gary is one to keep his private life – including his family – off limits.

However, in recent days, Gary has been beaming with pride as he gave an update on his family and their career aspirations. The Flood singer revealed that eldest child Daniel, 24, and daughter Emily, 22, have opted to stay out of the limelight and forging very different paths in their careers.

“The two oldest ones [Daniel and Emily] have kind of gone into medicine and physiology – studying strength and conditioning,” Gary explained in an interview with the Mirror. “And my youngest one, Daisy, I’m not too sure what she’s heading for but again, she’s very studious… unlike me and my wife.”

Reflecting on his childhood and breaking into the music industry, Gary admitted he would not expect his children to follow in his footsteps. However, the Take That singer added: “I wouldn’t have discouraged them though if they did want to, it’s been a good business for me.”

But while Gary explained his pride about being a dad-to-three, fans were left stunned at Daniel’s height. In a recent snap uploaded to the singer’s Instagram account, Daniel appeared to tower well above everyone else in the family.

As a result, fans of the star have taken to social media to share in their shock at how tall Daniel actually is. Several posts have since gone viral on different social media platforms, with Daniel and Gary now becoming an internet meme.

Daniel, who also indulges in a spot of sports himself, was the apple of his dad’s eye in a recent post, with Gary paying tribute to his child’s hard work. In a rare post addressing his family, Gary said: “We just couldn’t be prouder of our boy – unbelievable amounts of training and determination – when you put in the work you get the results; congratulations, Iron Man.”

Back in 2019, Barlow shared a video of himself and Daniel lifting weights and the star joked about the surprisingly large height difference.

“Don’t notice that I’m stood a little further forward to make the size gap smaller. Lol,” he penned on Twitter. Gary is loving father to his three kids, with his youngest, Daisy, being born in 2009.

The star is currently on tour with his Take That bandmates and revealed that wife Dawn was not joining him for the world dates. This was done so that Dawn can look after Daisy and help her through her schoolwork at home.
