Gavin and Stacey wedding ‘sealed’ as fishing trip secrets ‘exposed’ in series finale

The final ever episode of Gavin and Stacey could see Nessa and Smithy finally tie the knot in a lavish ceremony, AI claims.

James Corden and co-star Ruth Jones sent fans wild when they announced the series finale would hit the airwaves on Christmas Day on Friday (May 3). Taking to Instagram, the pair shared a sweet black and white selfie with the final scrip.

The pair could be seen peering over the script with the front sheet proudly stating: “Gavin and Stacey: the finale” along with the date 2024. They captioned the post: “Some news… it’s official! We have finished writing the last ever episode of Gavin and Stacey.

“See you on Christmas Day, BBC One. Love Ruth and James.” Now, Daily Star has quizzed one of the world’s most ‘creative’ AI tools to give fans an idea of what to expect over the highly anticipated episode.

Loyal fans will remember than the 2019 Christmas special ended with Nessa finally proposing to Smithy which left fans desperate to learn his answer. The program has hinted that the viewers could be in for a lavish wedding in the final episode.

It told us: “There’s a strong possibility that Nessa and Smithy could get married in the Gavin and Stacey finale. Many fans anticipate a happy ending for the couple and their potential wedding is a highly speculated outcome.”

The beloved Welshwoman is always full of surprises, and Gemini has teased that the TV favourite could end up walking down the aisle solo. It continued: “Nessa could walk down the aisle alone.

“This would be a strong statement of independence and self-reliance for Nessa’s character.” And viewers will be pleased to know that their son Neil the baby will also make an appearance in the wedding party.

The system suggested Neil will be carried down the aisle by another character, adding: “Perhaps Smithy, Gavin or another close family member could carry Neil down the aisle. Even if he doesn’t physically walk down the aisle, he could be incorporated symbolically and will be sure to wear a special outfit.”

Another big question that may be answered is what exactly happened during Uncle Bryn and Jason’s mysterious fishing trip. The famous trip has been a long-running, unresolved mystery within the show since the very first episode.

The fishing trip might finally be exposed

So far, fans have only been given a few clues as to what really happened. The first clue was that the bizarre activity is legal in Wales and involves soup and potential nudity.

Another clue given was that the act somehow “defies the laws of gravity” and only took place because the pair were cold. Gemini has since revealed that there’s a strong chance viewers will learn the truth in the final episode.

It explained: “James Corden has hinted that the finale will answer lingering questions, and the fishing trip mystery is a major one. It’s been revealed that a scene addressing the fishing trip was filmed but ultimately cut from a previous episode.

“This suggests that writers have a resolution in mind and might finally unveil it in the finale.” Viewers will have to tune in to the BBC special to get their long-awaited answers.

Thankfully, Daily Star site editor Andy Gilpin was on hand to provide his own thoughts, penning: “It’s probably the most low-rent ‘will-they won’t-they’ on TV, but you just know Smithy and Nessa HAVE to end up together.

“Unlike Gavin and Stacey they are the actual heart of the show and are where most of the humour comes from. It’s easy to knock the title characters and say they’re boring. And I like to take the easy way out. Gavin and Stacey are boring – it was always the characters around them that made this show.

“And for me the real love story has been their best pals and at the end of this final ever show, they have to find a way to be together. The fact Corden and Jones are the main writers of the hit sitcom which has captured British hearts suggest to me they will find a way to give Neil the baby his happy ending. Maybe it’ll involve a fishing trip?”
