Gladiators’ Cobra star Michael Wilson claims he was sent so much pubic hair in the post that he could’ve made a wig for Wolf.
The legendary Gladiator spoke about his time on the show as the reboot has just made a resurgence on BBC. Michael, now 60, claims the fans were so wild they often sent clippings of their pubes to the TV stars.
Michael told Daily Star: “Back in the day, there we didn’t have phones with cameras and social media, instead we just got loads and loads of stuff in the post and fan mail for me anyway.

“Right from the very start, we were up in a press office where someone handled my post for me, and they said ‘Oh, sometimes people seem to like sending you really filthy letters.
“Sometimes they seem to send public hair in the post’. I laughed and said ‘Well, you better keep them and we will make a wig for Wolf’. Well, c’mon he used to talk about being bald and stuff all the time, and I used to tell him to shave it off. After he eventually did it, he said he wished he had done it years ago.”
Cobra added: “Nowadays, I just get men in stockings and suspenders. Don’t get me wrong, I’m flattered but I’m surprised they think it’s enticing because it’s not at all.”
The TV star has also shared his advice for this year’s contestants who may also get a lot of attention from fans. He laughed: “Keep it in your trousers, you will have the girls and boys throwing themselves at you, just don’t bite on it.”
“There were a few famous people back in the day when I was on the Glads that liked me but I’m gonna keep that private. However, comedian Caroline Aherne once was drunk at a party after An audience with the Bee Gees.
“She put her head under my T-shirt and kissed my chest. Yeah, that was a surprise. She was Mrs Merton and used to dress up as the old woman, there were quite a few people who saw it as well.”
Gladiators airs every Saturday at 5:50pm on BBC One and the BBC iPlayer.
