When asked why she decided to switch out alcohol for healthier alternatives, Susanna explained that she had grown concerned for her well-being after noticing several conditions – including breakouts, rosacea and spots, all of which are related to alcohol consumption.

She added: “I stopped enjoying it; I prefer life alcohol-free, it’s tiring and the hangxiety got to me. I don’t feel like I can plough on after pints of Guinness the night before.”

Reid, who gave up the sauce some five years ago, said that the decision to give up alcohol was the first in a domino effect that has helped her ditch the weight once and for all. Although, she did admit that whilst her weight has continued to go down, she is not 100% sure how much weight she has lost.

Telling all to the Express, she said: “It turned out that I was at the upper end of my BMI and, I have to admit, I’d been feeling a little heavy for a while. I’ve lost a stone-and-a-half since then and I feel fantastic.”

Looking back at her previous lifestyle, Susanna also recalled that she had to relearn how to snack, after former morning presenter Eamonn Holmes remarked how working in breakfast TV can throw a diet off-balance. Instead of tucking into “six breakfasts a day”, she swapped her mid-morning cravings for much healthier options including rye bread with poached egg and avocado.

Revealing her workout routine, Susanna said that she has a number of bits of gym equipment at her home, including kettlebells and dumbbells. This is allow for the upkeep of her figure and “maintain her muscles”.
