Good Morning Britain turned tense as Susanna Reid had a clash with Home Alone star and Donald Trump supporter Rob Schneider on the ITV breakfast programme.
Susanna and Ed Balls were hosting a special GMB show from Washington D. C, as Trump faced off against Kamala Harris in the race to be the next US President but the script went out the window when Rob appeared on the show via video link accusing Susanna and Ed of talking about “misogyny off-camera”, which they both denied.
Susanna hit back: “Neither of us have uttered those words” while Ed tried to steer things back on track, quizzing Rob: “Tell us about Donald Trump becoming the President of the United States?”
Rob dodged the question, prompting Ed to say: “Are you sure you’ve been watching our programme? It feels like we’re in an episode of Saturday Night Live here Rob, or is it Home Alone 4? This interview has taken a bit of a turn!'”
Later on, Susanna had to jump in when a guest swore live on air. After hearing “p***ed off” twice, she reminded them: “I’m not sure we can say that” before quickly getting back to the US election chat.
However, viewers weren’t chuffed with the American focus of the show. Taking to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, one viewer wrote: “FFS where’s the British news, how many reporters do you need to send to America, enough already.”
A baffled punter moaned: “Don’t get this much coverage for a UK election, meanwhile – what’s the weather over Oxfordshire going to be today? Any British news?” Another miffed viewer chimed in with: “Is there anyone in the London studio to give us British news.”
Yet another asked with a hint of frustration: “Have I missed the weather and our local news?” And someone else joined the chorus, jesting: “No news happening anywhere else today then!”
Despite some narked responses, not everyone was throwing a wobbly over the broadcast, as one chuffed viewer celebrated Trump’s lead: “TRUMP WINS. It is A WIN for the USA AND for the WORLD. Crazy He’s been Voted IN for The 2nd time. I LOVE how The news channels are fuming!!!”
Later on, the programme Susanna handed over to Charlotte Hawkins back in the London studio for the latest British updates. But the update was brief.
