Emmerdale fans have already anticipated a huge twist in the ITV soap after Heath Hope was killed off in a New Year’s Day car crash.
His twin sister Cathy was behind the wheel at the time of the crash, with their friend Angelica also riding in the car, which the three teenagers stole from Wendy who was frantically searching for her missing vehicle. They decided to head off to a party without their parents’ knowledge, but that decision would prove fatal.
But despite Cathy handling the car at the time, fans think they know who “really” killed Heath, leaving his dad Bob distraught as he sobbed over his unresponsive form. Taking to Reddit to air their thoughts, some suggested it could have been the other driver at fault – despite Cathy not having a license.

And that driver? Some suggested Aaron or Mackenzie could have been responsible after Aaron dragged Mack into his dodgy deals. Taking to social media, one user penned: “After tonight’s shock death, I wonder what the fallout will be. I won’t be surprised if Mack and Aaron crashed into the car with the kids inside and drove off so Mack could make it in time for Charity.

“This storyline is totally crazy in my opinion. Heath hasn’t really had any big storylines since he joined aside from being Cathy’s brother, and the minute he starts to show a bit of a personality he’s killed off.”
“Was thinking Mack and Aaron might have a head-on collision with the kids,” one X user agreed, while another suggested: “Well done. Tragic. But well done. This will resonate for years. Cathy’s life has taken a complete 180 from now on.
“She killed her twin brother, driving when she shouldn’t have been, no matter whether they swerved to avoid Nate or Mack and Aaron. That’s all on Cathy. End of.”
Someone else had a different opinion entirely, suggesting Cathy and Angelica swapped positions – and Angelica was in control of the car when it crashed. One Reddit user said: “I betcha Cathy and Angelica swapped and it was actually Angelica who was driving.”
“Jeez I wasn’t expecting that! I have a sneaky suspicion that it will turn out to be Angelica being the one who was driving. Also the swerve was Mack and Aaron,” another said.
