“Both men fled after they saw her. It is terrifying to think what could have happened if the kids had woken and seen the men in their bedroom. Jacqueline and Dan feel lucky it wasn’t worse.”

Spanish law enforcement is currently investigating the terrifying incident, meanwhile Jacqueline has yet to comment publicly. It comes just hours prior to the event, the Mirror captured cheerful moments of the family enjoying the beach during their two-week stay.

A friend told The Sun: “The villa has good security and Jacqueline and Dan have got CCTV. They think it took about ten minutes for the burglars to break in.

“It’s possible the men were in the property for 15 minutes. Jacqueline said it was totally silent. It was only when a flash of a torch woke her up did they realise something had happened.”

They continued: “After going through everything they realised the raiders stole £20,000 of belongings, including Jacqueline’s engagement ring and some of her handbags. They even took cash from one of the kids’ backpacks. It’s disgusting.”

It is understood Jacqueline and Dan are working with the police to catch the perpetrators. The incident marks yet another celebrity home invasion, after BBC Radio 1 DJ Nik Grmshaw’s rented Ibiza villa was also burgled.

During the broadcaster’s 40th birthday celebrations, Grimshaw became an unsuspecting victim as thieves ransacked the high-end property amid a spate of robberies targeting the island’s wealthy residences. The star was ringing in his milestone birthday with his mother Eileen and fiancé Meshach Henry when the raid took place.

They became the victims of a notorious gang recognised for their trademark tactic to successfully burgle properties. The team will often use a sedative gas to subdue residents and break into the properties wearing “hazmat suits” before pocketing valuable belongings.

As reported by The Sun, they claim that Grimshaw and his relatives escaped the attack unscathed. An insider revealed: “There have been a spate of attacks in luxury villas across Ibiza this summer.

“Sadly, Nick’s villa was on the target list – simply due to it being known for being used by high net worth clients.” Want all the biggest Showbiz and TV news straight to your inbox? Sign up for our free Daily Star Showbiz newsletter.
