A feud has been sparked online between singer Lily Allen and presenter James Corden.
Corden, who is now back living in the UK after his late night talk show ended, was branded a “beg friend” by the Not Fair singer. According to sources close to the star he is said to be brushing off the criticism, with pals saying that Allen’s comments were “tacky”.
Lily first made the comments on her podcast, Miss Me?, alongside best pal and TV star Miquita Oliver. It was here that Lily said that James had been “desperate” to make it big in the world of TV.

In an interview last month, Allen sparked rumours of a rift between the two when she said James was a “beg friend” after he accused her of leading her on. Speaking on her show, the singer said that James had initially been “very flirtatious” with her on her own TV show in 2008, and the pair did hang out as pals at the time.
But in his autobiography, James claims he misread the signals and believed the pair had something more romantic. Lily blasting it: “I believe that he wrote about it in his book that, you know, that I was like leading him on or something – which I definitely wasn’t.
She added: “But yeah, I’d say if I ever had a famous beggy friend, it was James Corden back in the day. He’s not begging me anymore, I’m not begging him either – I can’t do anything for him now, he’s good.”
It comes after claims made for years on James’ conduct, with many saying that he had bad manners off-stage. He has been hit with several accusations of poor camaraderie once the cameras stopped rolling, being rude to guests backstage and faking a “good guy” persona – claims that he strongly denies.
Now, a pal close to the star has said that the writer, who helped to create the BBC sitcom Gavin & Stacey, has hit out at Lily’s claims. They added that she was “a bit of a t**t to have said anything at all,” as they launched into the Trigger Bang songstress.
“James gets a bunch of heat on how he treats people over and over again and is a very polarising person,” the insider explained. “He is a bit like Ellen DeGeneres nowadays – you either like him or you don’t, nothing in between.
“So, when Lily recently talked s**t about him, to James it was just another day in his life, just another hater,” they added. “He thought for Lily to bring up their past was tacky and that she was a bit of a t**t to have said anything at all.”
Corden’s initial comments were revealed in his 2011 autobiography, where he fumed that despite going out with Lily “four or five times” – it was never just them. He later admitted that he has misread the signs, saying: “There was no me and Lily, it was all in my mind.”
