James Jordan comments ‘no smoke without fire’ when asked about Giovanni Pernice

Former Strictly Come Dancing star James Jordan had quite a lot to say regarding Giovanni Pernice’s axe from the show as he commented: “There’s no smoke without fire”.

The 46-year-old appeared on ITV’s This Morning alongside his wife and professional dancer Ola. Talking to presenters Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard via video link, James and Ola shared their take on Giovanni after it was revealed that he will not return to the 2024 series.

Giovanni, 33, has been caught in a media frenzy as his teaching methods in rehearsals were brought into question. This came to light when his dance partner Amanda Abbington withdrew from the show last year due to “personal reasons”. Giovanni, however, has vehemently denied any allegations of wrongdoing.

Speaking on the controversy James commented: “There’s no smoke without fire. I’d be devastated if one of my previous celebrity partners came forward saying I was abusive or not treating them nicely in training but he’s had four!

“So if it was just one, you just say it was a massive clash of characters.” Adding her take, Ola said: “And you’re not going to get on with everyone, there are a lot of personalities and you have to change your teaching methods to every person that you dance with.”

James then went on to say that although he was known to be “bullish” and outspoken, on Strictly he was able to change his method of teaching depending on who he was working with.

Ben quickly stepped in to remind the dance pro that this was still only “allegations”. Ben said: “We need to be clear James that these are allegations that he vehemently denied,” he then went on to read some of Giovanni’s recent statement regarding the matter.

After witnessing the fairly tense discussion on their screens, fans headed straight over to X to share their opinions. Some also claimed James was “badmouthing” Giovanni.

One viewer wrote: “The most arrogant person (James Jordan) badmouthing Giovanni on #Thismorning. He doesn’t even let his wife Ola speak! Lol.”

Another said: “James ‘I’m not badmouthing Giovanni, there’s no smoke without fire, four people have come forward’. No mate you’re not badmouthing Giovanni.”

Last month, Giovanni shared a statement on Instagram regarding the allegations made. The statement read: “You will be as surprised as I am that allegations have been made about my dance teaching methods in the media this week.

“Of course, I reject any suggestion of abusive or threatening behaviour, and I look forward to clearing my name. Those who have followed my journey on Strictly Come Dancing over the last decade will know that I am passionate and competitive. No-one is more ambitious for my dance partners than me.

“I have always striven to help them be the very best dancers they can be. This has always come from a place of love and wanting to win – for me and my dance partners. Thank you all once again for your continued love and support.”
