James Martin’s Saturday Morning ITV cooking show took an unexpected turn.
The programme was back on our screens on Saturday (June 1)serving up a variety of mouth-watering dishes. The popular TV chef was joined by celebrity guests Jordan North and William Hanson, who were there to chat about their podcast and new book.
French cuisine was brought to the table by Chef Richard Bertinet, while Chef Ashley Palmer-Watts whipped up a Grilled Lobster Mayonnaise. Next up were Dipna Anand and her dad Gulu Anand, owners of a restaurant and experts in Punjabi cuisine.

However, as they began to prepare Haandi Chicken Masala and Rice, the atmosphere turned tense when the father-daughter duo started to argue, reports the Express. During the episode, James handed Dipna a bowl of raw chicken to kick-start the dish.
As he said: “There’s your chicken,” she responded with: “That’s the chicken dad’s been sulking about.” Despite James laughing and glancing at Gulu, Dipna remained serious as she put the chicken in a pot.
She explained: “I got the butcher to cut the chicken instead of dad.” James then chimed in, saying that watching Gulu cut a chicken “in less than a minute into 27 pieces” was one of the most “magical things” he’d seen on the show.
Agreeing with him, she said: “That was epic,” before her father pointed out it was “from the joints.” Defending her choice, the chef stated: “All I said was you’re not the only person who knows how to cut a chicken.
“I told the butcher how to cut it and I think he’s done an ok job.” While the pair were going back and forth, James looked at the camera in disbelief.
As things turned tense, James stepping back to join chefs Richard Bertinet and Ashley Palmer-Watts who were seated to the side. James jokingly asked: “You alright gents, you alright lads.”
He laughed it off as he took a swig of his drink. Noticing the awkward laughter, Dipna reverted the conversation back to the recipe. She continued: “Anyway, you can use chicken on the bone. That’s traditional.”
James Martin’s Saturday Morning airs next Saturday at 9.30am on ITV and ITVX
