Jenna Ortega finally breaks silence over ‘gross’ sex scene with just four words

Jenna Ortega finally dished the dirt on what is arguably the most risqué sex scene of her acting tenure. The star of Wednesday was the subject of a social media storm following her steamy on-screen romp with Martin Freeman in the film Miller’s Girl.

Released back in February, the erotic thriller centred around Professor Jonathan Miller (played by Martin Freeman), who finds himself entangled in an “increasingly complex web” with his student Cairo Sweet, brought to life by Ortega.

However, viewers who couldn’t wait to catch the film were left squirming in their seats over one particularly steamy scene where Ortega and Freeman’s characters become intimate. The clip even went viral on social media, with swathes of people offering their opinion.

Critique ranged from “disgusting AF” to “gross” owing to the age gap between the actors. One ticked-off filmgoer vented: “I think I am finally done watching these age gap movies. They are all gross, and I am tired of it. No amount of [Jenna or Martin] could save this one for me,” reports the Mirror.

Meanwhile, another chimed in with: “I feel very [weird] while watching this or it just me? Sorry but not sorry bruh!”. Cutting through the noise, some rose to the film’s defence, pointing out the artistic side of cinema and urging the outraged to “chill”.

In response to the uproar, a supporter asserted: “Apparently people are freaking out because Jenna Ortega kisses a girl in once scene, and assumes the doggy-style position with Martin Freeman in another. Like guys, it’s a movie, she’s acting. Chill.”

In a candid chat with Vanity Fair, Ortega tackled the harsh critiques of the film head-on. She summed up why audiences found certain scenes so jarring, stating: “It’s supposed to be awful.”

She went on to explain to the magazine: “It’s not supposed to be a comfortable movie. It’s supposed to be awful at times… Art isn’t always meant to be pleasant or happy, and everyone skips off into the sunset at the end. We all have f**ked-up experiences at one point or another.”

Her co-star Martin didn’t hold back either when he defended the flick against the negative buzz. He praised the film as “grown-up and nuanced” in an interview with The Times, emphasizing that it doesn’t glorify problematic relationships with significant age differences and power imbalances.

He clarified his stance to The Times, saying: “It’s not saying, ‘Isn’t [an age-gap romance] great? ‘” He then highlighted how challenging themes in movies can sometimes make viewers blur the lines of reality. “Are we gonna have a go at Liam Neeson for being in a film about the Holocaust? ” he questioned.
