EXCLUSIVE: This Morning favourite Josie Gibson has opened up about her future on the ITV daytime show, which she’s presented on since 2021, and why she wants to stay
Josie Gibson has addressed her future on ITV’s This Morning and admits she’d have to leave if one thing happens.
The 39-year-old has been a presenter on the daytime hit since 2021 and last year fronted it with then-host Holly Willoughby after Phillip Schofield’s exit from ITV. She recently told Daily Star how “lovely” it was to catch up with her co-stars at This Morning’s Christmas party.
Josie, who has teamed up with First Bus on theirMoving the Everyday campaign, has now revealed she has no plans on leaving This Morning and wants to stay “forever”. But she admits she’d be be “out” if the viewers get “sick” of her.

Asked how long she wants to host the show, she said: “Do you know what, it’s been around for 30 odd years and I hope it’ll be around for another 30 odd years. And I hope I’m always part of it, because it’s so special and I have a really good time.
“I think everyone can see I have a good time. I have such a good time presenting that show. I have a scream, it is lovely. It’s lovely to be a part of something.”
Giving a nod to her fellow female presenters on the show, such as Cat Deeley and Alison Hammond, she continued: “It’s like being part of a sisterhood (at ITV ). It’s so lush. So I hope I’m there forever.
But Josie admitted the viewers who dictate who fronts the show. She added: “If the people get sick of me, then I’m out, you know. It’s all about the people really, init? If they don’t want to see you… it’s all about them, really.”
The Welsh star, who shot to fame winning Big Brother in 2010, has taken a break from This Morning in recent weeks. She’s been busy filming her new Channel 4 show Ultimate Christmas Gift Guide as well as two other shows for Channel 5.
One is a travel show called First Class Travel, and the other is an “investigative” programme focusing on food from the 1970s. However, Josie confirmed she will be back on This Morning with her family before the end of the year.
The ITV presenter teamed up with First Bus on their Moving the Everyday campaign, which aims to highlight the role buses have in bringing local communities together. She spent the day on the bus in her hometown of Yate, Bristol, meeting inspiring members of her community.
Asked what it was like, she said: “It was probably the most wholesome day I’ve had in my whole life. I took the bus route I used to take to get into town in Yate when I was younger. It was so nostalgic. I was met by all these heroes up and down the country on the bus route. Oh my goodness, what they’ve been doing for the community is amazing.
“They’ve been delivering hampers to people, one of them has put football teams together for local refugees, the other is swimming the English channel for Macmillan and other charities. They work in food banks. These are amazing people.
“What a great campaign to get involved in. Not only is it a real sense of community, the bus is the hub of the community isn’t it?”
When asked if she had any notable fan encounters on the bus, it’s clear Josie had a favourite fellow passenger. Josie said: “A couple of weeks ago I caught the bus all around Bath, and I literally met the most gorgeous, lovely group of humans. Dianne, if you’re reading this, thank you for making my bus journey so enjoyable, you are funny as hell!”

The collaboration coincides with new research from First Bus revealing that nearly a third of Brits (30%) have formed lasting friendships on the bus, with Londoners leading the way (46%), followed by Wales (40%) and the East of England (36%).
To celebrate the role the bus plays in connecting communities through conversation, TV personality and Bristolian, Josie Gibson, joined First Bus on a tour of her local area, reminiscing on how the bus played a key role in keeping her connected to her community. Josie also spoke to a selection of everyday heroes from across the country who are doing spectacular things within their community, to make it a better place.
Josie said of the day: “My time reminiscing on the journeys I used to make when I was younger has been a great reminder of the wonderful way buses offer connection for people. The bus is the unsung hero within our local communities, so I’m not surprised to hear how many people are making long-lasting connections after a brief chinwag to the person sat next to them.”
