Katie Price hits back at claims she had affair with Team GB horse trainer

Katie Price has hit back at claims she had an affair with a Team GB horse rider.

Model and businesswoman Katie, 46, has been gearing up for a cheeky holiday together with son Harvey – her fifth holiday of the year so far. However, she has now been drawn into Olympic drama after she was romantically linked with former horse trainer Andrew Gould.

Andrew, who previously worked in training and breeding horses, is now the reserve ride for Team GB for the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris. The move comes after decorated Olympian Charlotte Dujardin was involved in a scandal after footage emerged of her whipping her horses during training.

However, it appears that Andrew’s history with the former glamour model goes back years after he found himself at the centre of Katie’s divorce proceedings from Mysterious Girl singer Peter Andre in 2009. During the bitter fallout, Andre accused Katie of having an affair with Gould, something that she strongly denied.

Price herself had previously admitted there would be speculation of a romance between the two after the pair were papped together on a night out. This was despite the fact that Andrew’s then-wife and friends were also at the party.

Speaking to Jeremy Vine on his Channel 5 show on Friday (July 26), Katie took the opportunity to clear the air. When asked what she made of the ongoing horse whip debacle, Jeremy added that she had history with the newly selected Team GB member.

“I’d just like to clarify, I never ever had an affair with him and we said that at the time,” Katie explained. “Obviously, when you’re riding … that was the Horse of the Year show that picture [in The Sun], so you do spend a lot of time with your trainer.

“But, yes, there was no affair going on but I think it’s brilliant that he’s making it into the Olympic team. Brilliant. Especially as he was the guy that taught me dressage.”

In 2009, Katie spoke to OK! magazine together with Andrew and then-wife Polly to discuss the incident and the eventual demise of their marriage. Opening up on how the meeting went, she explained: “I said Pete would go mad if he knew I was out with Andrew because he had a problem with him, but everyone was saying ‘Don’t be silly, you’re a grown woman, he’s here with Polly.'”

She went on to explain that the media papped her with a “mystery man” later in the evening, but it was alter revealed that the man was gay and someone whom Peter knew anyway. But the impact the media’s speculation had on her left the model feeling “sick”.

Katie added: “I wanted to get out of the house and avoid a confrontation with Pete because I knew he’d be angry. On the way to Andrew’s stables I was hyperventilating.”

The model, who is a keen horse rider herself, weighed in on the Olympic scandal, backing calls for Charlotte to lose her place on the team. She explained that had Dujardin whipped all her horses, Katie believed ” she should be stripped of everything”.
