Kids left in tears at cinema as cartoon shows horror trailer with stabbing scene

Young movie-goers were left in tears after a trailer for a horror film was mistakenly shown before a duck cartoon.

The kids were all set to watch Migration – a U-rated film about a family of ducks flying to Jamaica – when the trailer for Black Christmas began. The 15-rated movie clip showed someone being stabbed with an icicle, leaving parents having to comfort their upset children, according to The Mail, via Bristol Live.

Some grown-ups even ran out of the auditorium at The Vue cinema in Eastleigh, Hampshire to try and get the trailer turned off. The cinema has said sorry and explained it was a scheduling mistake.

In a statement, they said: “Due to a technical scheduling error from a provider, a non-planned film trailer was shown ahead of a small number of Migration screenings on February 8. As soon as we became aware, the trailer was immediately removed across all screenings.

“We are working with the film distributor to make sure this does not happen again, and we apologise to the affected customers.” Black Christmas is a film about students being killed over the Christmas period.

The trailer includes several violent scenes including two stabbings – one with an icicle and the second a kitchen knife. It also suggests that someone’s neck is broken and has jump scares.

A mother had taken her two children, aged 11 and 10, to see the movie Migration. However, they were left “disgusted and on edge” because of a trailer for the 2019 horror film that was aired.

The mum said her son was left upset and now has trouble sleeping. She stated: “I wouldn’t have minded if the film had a higher age rating, but it was a U, so it wasn’t appropriate in the slightest and there was one child as young as four in the cinema.”
