Love Island’s Maya Jama says ‘some people are meant to be together’ as exes reunite

Love Island host Maya Jama has broken her silence on exes Liberty Poole and Jake Cornish reuniting in the villa as they both sign up for the All Stars series.

12 legendary former islanders are heading to South Africa to try and find romance once again on the ITV2 dating show. The cast of ex stars was released on Monday and included the likes of Georgia Steek, Chris Taylor, Hannah Elizabeth as well as exes Liberty and Jake and Liberity’s bestie Kaz Kamwi.

The former couple appeared on the seventh series in 2021 and are both hoping for a second chance of love, but will it be with each other? Speaking ahead of the launch of the special series, Maya said: “Liberty should do what she wants. Some people are just meant to be together and some people aren’t. She might find a new love or they might rekindle a spark. The girls will be rooting for her.”

Fans will remember that Jake and Liberty couple quit the show just days before the final after Liberty realised Jake wasn’t the one. The popular pair were coupled up from day one and seemed to be growing stronger but Jake hinted that he wasn’t attracted to the blonde beauty anymore towards the end of the series.

Liberty decided to leave the villa single and Jake later admitted she gave him the “ick” because their sleeping area was left messy causing tension between the pair. Three years later, the former couple are set to appear on Love Island All Stars together again and Jake has insisted that their is “no bad blood” between them. Speaking to ITV, he said: “We never ended with any bad blood between us and everything happens for a reason. We just become two different people in the end.”

An insider for the programme revealed: “Jake knows he has some making up to do second time round and will have more reason to be on guard as Liberty’s best pal Kaz will be by her side. There will be no room for messing up even if he does attempt to recouple with Liberty. Liberty and Jake had an extremely awkward reunion on Aftersun at the end of their series but it will be nothing compared to discovering they will be living in the same house for weeks on end.”

“There were rumours the pair had given things another go after their series but the truth is they’ve not seen each other for years so things are going to get very uncomfortable. Living with your ex is a nightmare scenario for anyone but when the break-up was as explosive as this one, bosses are predicting Liberty and Jake’s villa return will make for compelling viewing.”

Love Island All Stars kicks off on ITV1, ITV2 and ITVX on Monday, January 15 at 9pm
