MAFS UK expert teases 2024 couple split as he admits groom made ‘terrible’ mistake

Married at First Sight UK expert Paul Brunson has hinted that a couple could be in big trouble.

The dating expert on the E4 show has admitted that one of his grooms made a “terrible” mistake in front of his bride at the altar. And he suggested the awkward moment could come back to bite the couple further down the line.

The latest series of MAFS UK kicked off this week and has already delivered plenty of wedding drama. Nathan, a 24-year-old engineer from Somerset got himself into trouble with his new bride Lacey on Tuesday (September 17).

Although he was about to marry Lacey, a 27-year-old office manager from Hertfordshire, it seems he couldn’t take his eyes off of her sister Paige. At one point, Lacey asked him: “So is your type petite, brunette, big batty gal? Because I’m what you asked for”.

Nathan replied “Yeah”, but Lacey noticed something was off and pointed out: “You hesitated there”. The camera panned to her sister Paige, and Lacey’s mum revealed: “He thought he was marrying Paige”.

Paul has addressed Nathan’s blunder in an exclusive chat with Daily Star. Asked if a couple can survive such a thing, said: “You can come back but it will always be remembered.

“It’s unforgettable. I mean that was… poor Nathan. I love Nathan but that was a terrible move!”

Asked what fans can expect from this series, Paul teased tons of bombshells as he said: “You’re going to see everything that you love and more. You’re going to see some things said that you’ve never heard before that stay with me to this day.”

They say love isn’t easy, but neither are the commitment ceremonies, which see Paul and fellow love gurus – Mel Schilling and Charlene Douglas – work through issues raised by the newlyweds in front of their peers. “The commitment ceremonies are so much longer than everyone realises,” he said.

“After the commitment ceremony, which takes about 12 hours to film and each couple is on the couch for about an hour, you’re only seeing maybe five minutes, we need almost the entire following day just to recuperate.”

Paul has just launched his brand new podcast We Need To Talk, where he shares his matchmaking wisdom in a bid for us all to be best we can be. In 24 hours the show racked up 100k views, 2m views on social and since topped the charts on Apple and Spotify.

He said of the pod: “We Need To Talk is a very special project. It is unbelievable because of everyone here. The passion that the Flight Studio team has is second to none.

“When the project came out you could feel the cheering, literally. That’s what unifies everyone here in this building is the level of passion.”

Married at First Sight UK airs every Monday to Thursday at 9pm on E4.
