Michelle Keegan ‘favourite to be next Bond girl’ next to Aaron Taylor-Johnson

Michelle Keegan, the 36 year old actress who shot to fame on Coronation Street and later starred in Brassic, is rumoured to be a top pick for the next ‘Bond girl’.

This comes amid speculation about who will star in the upcoming James Bond film. Her husband, Mark Wright, even hinted at these rumours last month.

Now, it’s said that Michelle is a strong contender to star alongside the new lead of the film series. If chosen, she would follow in the footsteps of famous actresses like Ursula Andress, Michelle Yeoh, Halle Berry, and more recently Lea Seydoux, who have all played the role of Bond’s companion.

Gambling.com’s analysis of betting odds suggests that Michelle is one of the favourites to land a role in the next Bond film, which will be the first since Daniel Craig’s departure. She’s currently second favourite, behind Jodie Comer from BBC’s Killing Eve.

James Leyfield, an entertainment commentator for the outlet, reports that while Jodie has odds of 6/4, she “faces increased competition” from Michelle. The latter’s odds have improved from third favourite at 5/2 to second favourite at 7/4, following her role on Netflix’s Fool Me Once, reports the Mirror.

Kaya Scodelario, 32, is currently the third favourite with odds of 5/2. She’s part of the cast of the newly launched series The Gentlemen on a popular streaming platform, and she’s also known for her role in Skins.

Other stars who might bag a role include Sydney Sweeney from Euphoria, Phoebe Dynevor from Bridgerton, and Meg Bellamy, who played Kate Middleton in The Crown’s sixth season. Dua Lipa, Jenna Ortega and Saoirse Ronan are also mentioned in the odds.

The speculation comes amid rumours that Aaron Taylor-Johnson (pictured) has been offered the lead role

This comes after rumours this week that Aaron Taylor-Johnson, 33, has been offered the role of James Bond in the next film. A source told The Sun that a “formal offer is on the table”, but this has since been denied. A source told the BBC that there is “no truth in the rumours”.

Aaron’s name has been linked to the role for months. Other names suggested as replacements for Daniel, who played the character in five films, include Superman actor Henry Cavill and Bridgerton’s Rege-Jean Page.

Idris Elba, star of Luther, who was once a favourite to take over the role, previously hinted that he wouldn’t accept the job. More recently, Theo James from The White Lotus also ruled out the idea of playing the character on-screen.
