He previously told the Mirror: “I worked out in the very early days that the main reason people were given for being fired, nine times out of ten, was: ‘We just don’t see any more kind of story arc for your character’. “So roughly three or four months before the end of my contract I would go to the story team and dump like 15 or 20 story ideas on their desk so they never run out of ideas for me.”

Ryan, who’s been a staple as Toadie on Ramsay Street for nearly three decades, was chuffed about getting back into the groove just months after the original soap wrapped up but it seems he wasn’t exactly planning a return after he swiped a keepsake on his last day at the old set.

“I did take something with me [from the original set] but I’m not going to tell you what it is as it’s pretty cool,” Ryan admitted before adding: “I saw it and thought ‘that’s got to come home with me’ and it did.”

The Aussie actor, who’s now the voice behind the first-ever Australian accented Quick Replies for Ring Video Doorbells, cheekily admitted that no one’s clocked the missing prop in the fresh Neighbours reboot set-up.
