Nineties electronic dance stars ‘planning special shows to mark 30 year anniversary’

Basement Jaxx are reportedly planning a string of special shows to mark 30 years since they got together.

Where’s Your Head At hitmakers Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe didn’t start releasing full albums until 1999 but they came together and launched a popular club night in London in 1994, which they called Basement Jaxx. Now, a decade after they last unveiled an album, The Sun reports that they are getting ready to announce some live performances to mark that anniversary.

According to the paper, it’s a “massive” thing for Felix and Simon, who are apparently getting ready to share their big news soon.

The source said that for Felix and Simon “this year celebrates 30 years from where their music first started”. “They are planning in the coming weeks to announce a handful of massive shows to mark the milestone,” they went on.

“Last year Basement Jaxx only played a couple of times in the UK, and this will give fans more of a chance to see a full live show. It is massive for Felix and Simon and they’re really excited about what they have planned.”

So far there is no word on whether the electronic dance duo are planning to make any new music, although in 2019 it was reported that there had been talk of another Basement Jaxx album. Plus an insider suggested to The Sun that it would be a possibility if the gigs were a success.

The source said that if the upcoming anniversary shows go down well then “they could start working on some new music which would be really special”.

If the pair do go on to release a new album sometime in the future it would be their first offering since Junto, which was released 10 years ago in 2014 and reached number 30 in the UK.

In recent years the pair have been working as remixers for many big stars and they have also composed music for TV shows. They also still travel around and DJ together, sharing titbits from their shows with their fans on Instagram.

The duo’s best known tracks include Where’s Your Head At, which was huge and went to number nine in the UK, Good Luck, Oh My Gosh and Romeo.
