Oasis deny knowledge of Ticketmaster price hike after furious fans slam sale

Manchester music legends Oasis have clapped back at the furor over inflated ticket prices, announcing two extra gigs at Wembley due to fan frenzy.

They took to X, formerly known as Twitter, on Wednesday (September 4) to spill the beans on the new dates and how their army of followers could snag a spot in the crowd. The statement also confirmed the band’s management had been aware of the dynamic pricing, even if the members themselves had not been.

Their tweet laid it out: “Two extra Wembley Stadium shows have been added due to phenomenal demand. Tickets will be sold by a staggered, invitation-only ballot process. Applications to join the ballot will be opened first to the many UK fans who were unsuccessful in the initial on sale with Ticketmaster.”

The Gallagher bros set records tumbling with their Oasis Live ’25 tour, creating the biggest clamour for concert tickets Blighty and Ireland have ever witnessed. A whopping 10million hopefuls across 158 nations queued up online to get hold of tickets.

The unprecedented rush caused a meltdown on multiple ticketing sites leaving countless fans gutted and empty-handed after enduring mammoth wait times, reports the Mirror.

In a nod to those who faced the online chaos, the band has concocted an invite-only ballot for these fresh shows, throwing a bone to those who came up short in the hectic first round of sales with Ticketmaster.

Turns out Oasis mania has reached such dizzying heights that not even a marathon tour could satisfy the fan frenzy. With public appetite utterly insatiable, planning for ticket sales had to be clever to keep punters happy and prevent meltdowns.

The Gallagher brothers found themselves in the hot seat after fans raised a right kerfuffle over Ticketmaster’s wallet-walloping dynamic pricing. In response, Oasis chorused: “As for the well reported complaints many buyers had over the operation of Ticketmaster’s dynamic ticketing: it needs to be made clear that Oasis leave decisions on ticketing and pricing entirely to their promoters and management, and at no time had any awareness that dynamic pricing was going to be used.”

The band spilled the beans about backstage chats with bosses: “While prior meetings between promoters, Ticketmaster and the band’s management resulted in a positive ticket sale strategy, which would be a fair experience for fans, including dynamic ticketing to help keep general ticket prices down as well as reduce touting, the execution of the plan failed to meet expectations.”

Trying to make amends or simply a bit stumped, all involved have tipped their hats, admitting they’d hoped for better: “All parties involved did their utmost to deliver the best possible fan experience, but due to the unprecedented demand this became impossible to achieve.”

UK fans were left seething as ticket prices for the Live ’25 shows skyrocketed, with some doubling from £148 to a whopping £355 on Ticketmaster due to dynamic pricing. This left many fans empty-handed and in shock at the soaring prices.

A spokesperson for the UK’s advertising regulator stated that the complainants argue the adverts made “misleading claims about availability and pricing”.

Amidst the controversy, an old tweet from frontman Liam has come back to haunt him. In a 2017 post, Liam blasted: “350 dollars to go and see rkid in USA what a c*** when will it all stop as you were LG x.”

He was taking a swipe at his brother Noel for his pricey American tour – ironically, the same issue that has now plagued the Oasis tour. Reacting to the resurfaced tweet, one fan quipped: “Well this is evergreen.”

Another vented: “£380 for a ‘reactively priced’ GA when people had spent 3 hours queuing. What sort of c*** would do that? As you were. BA x.”
